Purpose of life
Life is a journey and it's not over until the last battle is fought, no matter how hard we may have been hit in the past there is still scope for success if we are willing to persevere and determined to succeed.
Let’s take inspiration from Karoly Takacs , who was born in Budapest and joined in Hungarian Army. In 1986, he had become a world-class shooter and dreamt of Olympic Gold Medal. However, his dream was shattered when his place was given to a major while he was only a sergeant. Not to be deterred he decided to be so good that they cannot ignore him the next time.
Subsequently, he became a member of the Hungarian shooting team, he was now considered a favorite for the Gold Medal in the 1940 Olympics in Tokyo. However, destiny was harsh upon him the second time. In 1938 a Grenade in his hand exploded because of the carelessness of the grenadier. His hand was shattered along with it his dream of the Gold Medal.
However, Karoly did the unthinkable he started training with his other hand & became proficient in it without telling anyone else. He was probably scared that they would discourage him.
In 1939, he came for the Hungarian athletic meet, the other shooters looked at him and commiserated. “We were so sorry to hear about your accident but we appreciate that you have to cheer us”. Karoly said,” I am not here to spectate you, I am here to compete with you”. They laughed it off, when Karoly Takacs chance came, while the others had shot with their best hand, he was shooting with his only hand. He stunned the audience by hitting bull’s-eye upon bull’s-eye every time in the 25-meter rapid fire pistol shooting and won the Gold Medal.
He was now famous for the 1940 Olympics. However, destiny had something in store again. The World-War broke out and the Olympics did not happen. Karoly Takacs continued to keep his dream alive for the 1944 Olympics which also did not happen because the World War did not end. Finally, in 1948, the Olympics happened in London and Karoly reached there with the Hungarian Team. He was no longer considered a favorite. The world’s top shooter condescendingly looked at him and said, “ You are 38 years old and hope to win? ” Karoly thought actions speak better than words. He not only won the Gold medal but also broke the world record for the 25-meter rapid fire pistol shooting. He did not stop. in 1952 the next Olympics was in Helsinki, Finland. Karoly Takacs repeated the feat and won another Gold medal. The message from his achievements is that winners have a thousand reasons to excuse, one reason to succeed. They take that one reason and proceed.
Our soul has been on a journeyof evolution since endless lifetimes. So many times we went into the animal speciesand so many times to the celestial abodes . In this life we have recieved the human form with a tremendous oppurtunity and to achieve our highest purpose and manifest our fullest potential.
